Beijing Jiaotong University PER Group
Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) is a national key university of China, under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Railways. BJTU is one of the first universities in China authorized to confer master’s and doctoral degrees autonomously. BJTU is one of the first National 211 Project universities, one of Innovation Bases of the National 985 Project, and one of the 56 universities authorized to establish a Graduate School in China.
The University has strong resources in scientific research. Fixed assets of research facilities have reached 523 million yuan. The Library has a collection of 1.39 million volumes of print books, 0.33 million volumes of digital books, 1.95 million volumes from network resources, and several databases. There are 1 national key lab, 2 national engineering labs, 1 national engineering research center, 3 national certification labs, 3 MoE key labs, 4 MoE engineering research centers, 4 municipal key labs, China Integrated Transportation Research Center and China Center for Industrial Economic Security Research. In recent year, the University has been responsible for over 4,000 research projects at national, ministry and municipal levels. The GSM-R for railway mobile communication and the CBTC for railway operation control are among the most influential achievements. In 2008, contract research funding reached 580 million yuan. In 2007, BJTU is ranked 42nd in SCI, 32nd in EI and 12th in ISTP among Chinese universities. UNESCO established a Chair for cooperation between higher engineering education and the industry at BJTU. The annual China Transportation Summit organized by BJTU has become an important event for transportation-related industry and research in China.
BJTU gives strong support to international cooperation and exchange. The University has established concrete cooperative relations with over 60 universities in more than 10 countries and regions as well as with the industry. BJTU’s China-Australia Business School, approved by the Ministry of Education, has achieved nation-wide recognition for its excellent quality. Our joint Confucius Institute in Leuven, Belgium has become a platform for Sino-European cultural and educational exchanges. The annual BJTU International Culture Festival receives more and more attention from the international students, embassies and the off-campus society. BJTU has also been active in hosting and organizing international academic conferences and workshops in many areas. The University also strengthens its work on the board of directors, the alumni association and the educational foundation so as to promote closer partnership with the industry and the society.

北京交通大学 1996年开始进行国家工科基础课程基地建设,物理基地按照“深理博物、强化实践、注重能力培养”的思想,依托学科建设基础课程,先后主持国家级及省部级 教改项目10项,高水平的研究成果为提高教学质量提供了保障。基地建设在课程体系改革和实验平台建设方面形成特色。
物理基地注重物理思想 方法,以近代物理观点审视经典内容,按照物质及其运动规律组织内容,推出新的大学物理课程体系;突出学科特色,适当加强光学内容,将近代物理、新技术应用 内容结合组合成实验专题,让学生更自然地接触近代物理;理论课实行多体系分类教学,实验课开放实验室;进行精品教材建设,出版了国家九五重点教材、国家十 五规划教材及电子教案、教学设计、实验课件、能力训练与知识拓展参考书等系列教材。
物理基地构建了课内外结合的实验教 学新体系。增加课内设计性实验力度和选题面;开设必修的物理演示与探索实验,搭建了联系理论课和实验课的桥梁;通过考试改革引导学生主动实践;建立课外创 新实践天地实验室,既培育人才,又出成果;开发研制大学物理和演示实验教学仪器50余种,填补空白。
基地成果用于大面积教学,学生的知识和能力得到明显提高。开发的教学仪器、出版的教材及课件在教学中发挥了重要作用,并在很多兄弟学校使用。同行、专家对基地建设给予高度评价,基地被教育部公布为“优秀基地点”。

《开拓创新,建设一流的物理演示与探索实验室》
与大学物理课程教学结合开设物理演示与探索实验。实验室可提供课堂用演示实验 30 余项、定性或半定量实验 120 余项以及学生自主学习用的导学系统。
