Principles of Biology I
Course Introduction
First semester of the two-semester Principles of Biology sequence. There are three central theories in biology: the theory of the cell, the theory of the gene, and the theory of evolution. This course covers these theories in biology at the molecular and cellular levels by exploring the basics of genomic structure and mechanisms involved in the organization and regulated expression of genetic information. This course offers instruction and practice in scientific writing and speaking that is critical for professional biological scientists.

Psychology
Course Introduction
This course is designed to teach students the basic principles and the foundations of psychology. We will discuss the development and evolution of the field, as well as several specialty areas within the discipline. One of the goals of this course is for students to appreciate the expansiveness of psychology; it has a role in everything that humans do. Unfortunately, given time restrictions, we will be unable to explore every avenue that psychology introduces to us. Thus, this course will attempt to lay the first building blocks in your psychological knowledge.

Elementary Statistics with Computers
Course Introduction
Data production and analysis; probability basics, distributions; sampling, estimation with confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, t-test; correlation and regression; crosstabulations and chi-square. Students learn to use a statistical package such as SPSS.

Physics II
Course Introduction
Lectures, demonstrations and laboratory in electricity, magnetism, wave motion, sound, optics and modern physics.

English Composition II
Course Introduction
This course is a continuation of English Composition I. Students will be reading, writing and researching on topics of their choice. The course will require writing assignments, which will include summaries of reading material, exploratory essays, abstracts, annotated bibliographies, and a final essay.

English Composition I
Course Introduction
This class is designed to help students better understand the methods and characteristics of powerful and persuasive writing at the college level and beyond. By learning and then employing basic strategies of rhetoric, composition, and process, students will become more comfortable and adept at composing writing across various genres. Students will explore the intricacies of the composition process, from pre-writing to final editing, along with sentence and paragraph organization, grammar, and mechanics as needed.

Introduction to Computer Science
Course Introduction
A broad survey of the computer science discipline, focusing on the computer's role in representing, storing, manipulating, organizing and communicating information. Topics include hardware, software, algorithms, operating systems, networks.

Physics I
Course Introduction
This course is designed to be equivalent to a first-semester college physics class. The material will be learned through a variety of activities including reading and writing assignments, homework problems, quizzes, and tests Through this course, students will increase their knowledge of physics and develop their problem-solving abilities, specifically, how to apply mathematical principles to a physical situation, how to analyze scientific phenomena, and how to communicate experimental results. Topics covered will focus on mechanics and heat.

Principles of Biology II
Course Introduction
The course begins with an overview on the characteristics and diversity of living organisms, further expanding by looking into the structure and function of the major animal organ systems and their adaptations, with emphasis on mammalian systems. The second part of the semester includes examination of the structure and function of higher plants, as well as major concepts in ecology, conservation biology and evolution.
